8:20 so because of this unnecessary change in the film trilogy kid me had to put up with Aragorn's worthless ranger sword that couldn't destroy morgul objects, instead of just having the hilt of Anduril which is actually a weapon in the game that Isildur uses, while playing the lego lord of the rings game. And all that busy work going around the map breaking them after the main story was solely because of the changes in the film. Damn you Jackson.

Started with a flawed but okay movie, had a disappointing sequel with baffling creative choices, ended on an absolute mess of a third movie that even with the extended version handles everything narrative wise so sloppily it's a joke of a conclusion. This trilogy was so cursed, AND IT'S ALL SUPPOSED TO BE BASED ON ONE BOOK. Fuck's sake.

In all honesty, I am surprised you did not mention the Flower Shop scene. which in the book, it's eastablished she has some sort of past with Johnny. which with the added context of Johnny's true identity and in addition of other seemingly tandom comments, it leaves heavily implied she is also some other form of long-living entity. which people have theorized she was a witch that might have had more importance in future novels had they materialized.

You forgot to mention the far superior and tragically unfinished cartoon. It's early CG, and ALL about the 8-member squad of Razak's Roughnecks fighting the bugs and becoming allies with the Skinies. The bugs are SUPER neat. While they still use biology instead of technology, they have evolved member species that fill all roles, including space transport ship. I really loved the series as a kid and still do; the world building completely eschews the political angles, instead going into the space army and the bugs.

I heard they had planned the around-the world compass sequence but didn't have the time to film it with the Sherman Brothers writing The Land of Sand for said sequence, which the melody for which was reused for Trust In Me in The Jungle Book.

Fun fact, the reason Johanna was considered unfit for soldiering is because she was tortured by the capitol with water and electrocution and now has a crippling phobia of water, which lead to her failing her test where the testing grounds were flooded. One thing I kinda didn't like that they left out is that at the end of Mockingjay, after Katniss killed Coin, she was basically locked up alone in the room she stayed before the Quarter Quell for days, being given food and water (and meds which she tried to overdose on but they didn't let her get enough for that), and live broadcasting her solitary confinement (unknown to her). This was likely orchestrated by her friends within the rebellion who wanted her to live, most likely in the attempt to show the people that Katniss was either 1: too traumatized to be considered responsible for her actions killing Coin (legally insane), or to show people her humanity, and that even after they saw all this mocked up propaganda of her as a big hero, even after she killed their leader, she's still a human, and that she isn't "evil" or deserving of execution for what she did. She ended up starving herself, singing regularly, generally just thinking about suicide. In the end Haymitch tells her that she passed her "Trial" and she was going home.

What book ended this way? Ive read most of them... and this leaves me clueless.

The cliffhanger ending to this film pissed me off to no end, I fucking hate that shit. And it's even worse as when I was a kid I had a game based on these movies, but only the first two films were out and they said they would make the last film dlc. Not only was that dogshit, but they never fucking made it either. So the game just ends with no resolution on the Smaug cliffhanger. Fucking amazing. 💀

Very sad at the studios mismanagement of the hobbit films

I watched the first couple episodes. I found them fairly enjoyable, but not very fun. A lot of the stuff in the show look a bit colorless and dull compared to what I imagined from the books.

Admittedly, I understand mispronouncing Ogion’s name ON PURPOSE… And that’s because, listening to DOM pronouncing it correctly, I am CONFIDENT the thought was “that sounds WAY too close to vagina, and everyone is gonna be snickering”. And I know that’s assuming the show runners cared about audiences taking the show seriously, but there’s always a difference between taking the material seriously, and show runners not wanting people to laugh at THEM.

This felt like a poor mans Matrix.

If they had not made it a musical then they could have included all the chapters in the movie.

Im surprised how much praise Lovecraft got in this review, even if the film was bad. I finally got around to listening to his works last year and was surprised how bad a writer he really was although with some good concepts. Once you realize how much of his work was inspired by how stupid Lovecraft was at math and just racism its hard to take alot of the stories seriously enough for them to be any good. I still think you can enjoy some of his stories but he wasn't a very good writer even if some of his concepts really slap like color out of space and Cthulhu

Huh, this sounds weirdly loyal for a Disney made adaptation. Who knew that might happen if the man who told people working on The Jungle Book not to read the book isn't too involved.
